Maharaja Praveena Chandra Bhanjadev of Bastar was born on 25 June 1929. His mother was the nephew of Maharani Prajullah Kumari Devi and father of Mayurabhaj Maharaj, Prafulla Chandra Bhojdev. Rich Praveenchandra Bhanjadev, a charismatic personality, was also a tennis and cricket-friendly player, after the death of his mother, he became the Maharaja of Bastar at an early age, and in July 1949, 14 years later, the British handed over the entire Bastar state to the Bastar tribes.
